Hospitalist Programs

Development, implementation and consulting

What is a hospitalist?
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in your hospital. Hospitalists do not have an outpatient medical practice — their work is solely dedicated to caring for patients in your hospital. Each member of the team is an attending physician, BC/BE in Internal Medicine. Their work is overseen by pulmonary critical care physicians.

What is a hospitalist program?
Hospitalist programs recognize that physicians are busy — whether attending to patient visits or handling day-to-day oversight of an office practice. A hospitalist program works to ease the burden of continuous visits to the hospital, offering referring physicians the assurance that their patients are receiving the highest level of care
during an inpatient stay. And most importantly, when the patient leaves the hospital, the physician is assured a smooth transition back to the office practice.

Hospitalist program benefits
When New England Medical Care Institute implements a hospitalist program with your department, practice or hospital, the foremost benefit is patient care. NEMCare hospitalists are your hospitalists, and attend to every need during a patient's hospital stay — such as ordering tests, prescribing medications and monitoring results. At each step of the process a hospitalist communicates with the physician to assure the proper care of his or her patient.

Communication is ongoing, direct, and delivered in the format of the physician's choice. Hospitalists serve as an extension of the primary care provider. Because they communicate so thoroughly with the referring physician, hospitalists can effectively provide sound patient consultation, answering patient inquiries at a moment’s notice, and serving as a present, calming voice for the families of those who are hospitalized.

True partners in quality care
With a NEMCare hospitalist program, your hospitalists are always in the hospital, allowing referring physicians to devote more time to caring for patients and their families in the outpatient setting.
